Specialized wood treatment

Wood is a versatile and inexpensive material that offers a wide range of possibilities in the world of construction. However, this a very complex field in which it’s quite necessary to know all the previous treatments and the necessary maintenance before creating a structure or element with this material.

In this post we’re going to be talking about wood treatment by the Banema team in construction projects.

New wood

New wood is that which is already prepared with antifungal, fireproof or weather resistant treatment. Depending on the application, you can purchase entire boards or pieces of different shapes and sizes.

Before using it, we must first apply a primer or a sealer and end with a finish adapted to its final use, for example a textured effect with varnish or lacquer.

To apply any type of paint we will use a primer or sealer and then a varnish (lacquer) or a synthetic varnish.

Recycled wood

In the case of “used”, “old” or “recycled” wood, it’s necessary to eliminate the existing product on it to obtain virgin wood and apply the same treatment as we would on new woods.

You can then use varnish, primers or any kind of paint, just like we would on new wood.

As you can see, the world of wood has no fixed rules. Each one has a totally different behavior! Also, don’t forget that these treatments must be applied by a specialist for better results.
